TFT LCD Structure and Module Components

A TFT LCD module combines the liquid-crystal cell, thin-film-transistor array, color filter, polarizers, backlight, driver electronics and mechanical frame. Some modules also include touch, cover glass or interface boards.

Core optical stack

The display cell controls transmitted light at each pixel. Front and rear polarizers, alignment layers, liquid crystal and color filters work together to create the image.

Backlight and mechanics

LEDs, light guides, optical films and reflectors provide illumination. The frame, bezel and mounting features define mechanical integration and influence heat management.

Electrical components

Gate and source drivers, timing control, flexible circuits and connectors transfer image data and power. Module interface and pin assignment must match the host electronics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the backlight part of the TFT cell?

No. It is a separate illumination assembly integrated behind a transmissive LCD cell.

Why do similar panels have different depths?

Backlight, frame, driver-board and touch configurations can change the module thickness.

Which dimensions matter for replacement?

Check outline, active area, depth, mounting, connector position and viewing orientation.
