Difference between LCD direct drive and HDMI drive

Date:2023-03-10

LCD screen direct drive and HDMI drive are two different drive modes. The difference lies in signal transmission mode, image quality and hardware requirements.

LCD screen direct drive refers to the direct transmission of image signals to the LCD screen, and the use of the built-in drive circuit to display the image on the screen. This method is usually used for small LCD screens, such as mobile devices or small displays. Because the built-in drive circuit of the LCD screen is relatively simple, the requirements for hardware are also low. However, the image quality and resolution of the direct drive mode are low, and the performance of color and contrast is not as good as that of the HDMI drive mode.

HDMI driver is a digital signal transmission method. It transmits the image signal from the computer or other devices to the LCD screen through the HDMI cable, and then uses the built-in decoder to convert the signal into an image and display it on the screen. This method is usually used for large LCD screens, such as televisions or desktop monitors. Because HDMI driver can support high-resolution and high-quality images, it can usually provide better image quality and color performance.

However, for HDMI drive mode, high hardware requirements are required, such as graphics card, CPU, memory, etc. In short, both the LCD direct drive and HDMI drive have their own advantages and disadvantages. The specific driving mode to be selected depends on the specific use scenario and requirements.
