Working principles of touchable TFT LCD

Date:2023-10-18

Generally, the working part of touch screen is generally composed of three parts. As shown in figure 1: There are two layers of transparent obstructive conductor layers,  and the isolation layer and electrode is between the two -layer conductors. The blocking conductive layer is generally used by obstructive materials, such as tin oxides coated on the substrate, and the upper substrate uses plastic, and the lower substrate uses glass. The isolation layer is a viscous insulating liquid material, such as polyclic film. The electrode is composed of materials with good conductivity, and its conductive performance is about 1000 times that of ITO.

When the touch screen works, the upper and lower conductor layers take a role as the resistance network, as shown in figure 2. When the electrode of a certain layer is added with a voltage, the voltage gradient will be formed on this network. If there is an external force to contact the upper and lower layers at a certain point, the other layer of electrodes that are not added can measure the voltage on the contact point, so as to know the coordinates of the contact point. If the electrode on the top layer is added with voltage, the voltage gradient will be formed on the top -layer conductor layer. If there is an external force, the upper and lower layers will be in contact with a certain point, and the voltage at the bottom layer can be measured and the distance between voltage and electrode so as to know the X coordinate here. Then switch the voltage to the bottom layer electrode and measure the voltage at the contact point at the top layer to know the Y coordinate.
