AUO replacement engineering checklist

A replacement is approved by evidence and testing, not by matching the size, resolution or connector count. Use this workflow for an installed AUO panel, an AUO-to-AUO revision change or a cross-brand alternative.

Information required before comparison

  • Clear front, rear-label and connector photographs of the installed panel.
  • Complete model and suffix, host/controller model, cable drawing and current panel datasheet.
  • Outline, mounting, bezel, active-area and connector-position constraints.
  • Resolution, interface, pin assignment, voltage, timing, power sequence and backlight control.
  • Brightness, viewing, surface treatment, temperature, touch and environmental requirements.
  • Failure reason, quantity, annual demand, destination and redesign tolerance.

Decision workflow

  1. Classify every difference as identical, acceptable, requiring a system change, or unacceptable.
  2. Review high-risk differences with electrical, mechanical, optical and software owners.
  3. Order identified samples; do not qualify an anonymous or mixed-revision lot.
  4. Test installation, power-up, signal stability, images, dimming, touch, thermal behavior and long-duration operation.
  5. Run application-specific environmental and EMC tests where required.
  6. Approve a golden sample and lock the accepted revision and change-notification process.

Examples of unsafe assumptions

G156HAN04.1 is not automatically a drop-in replacement for G156HAN04.0. A G133XTN01-family suffix should not be substituted for another suffix without document comparison. A 30-pin eDP panel is not automatically compatible with another 30-pin eDP panel. LVDS and eDP normally require different host logic and cannot be converted with a passive cable.

FAQ

Can you confirm a replacement from photographs alone?

No. Photographs help identify the panel, but current controlled documents and system requirements are needed.

Is the same resolution enough?

No. Interface, pinout, voltage, timing, mechanics, optics and backlight can still differ.

Can a controller board solve every mismatch?

No. It may address some signal differences, but it cannot automatically solve mechanics, optics, power, thermal or firmware constraints.

When is a replacement approved?

Only after documented comparison, responsible engineering review and validation of an identified sample in the final equipment.
