Anti-glare treatment microscopically diffuses reflected light so mirror-like reflections are less distracting. It can improve practical readability, but excessive diffusion may reduce contrast, add sparkle or soften fine text.

- Haze and gloss measured using a stated method.
- Sparkle with the target pixel density and viewing distance.
- Image sharpness, black level and apparent contrast.
- Fingerprint visibility, cleaning resistance and coating durability.
- Touch sensitivity through the complete cover stack.
Sample evaluation
- Use the actual LCD, cover and bonding construction.
- Display fine text, gray scales, solid colors and dark UI screens.
- Test under diffuse office light and directional bright light.
- Evaluate normal and oblique viewing positions.
- Check wet, glove and cleaning requirements.
- Approve a controlled surface specification, not only AG.
Anti-reflection treatment works differently by reducing reflected intensity through optical coatings. AG and AR may be combined, but durability, cost and appearance must be qualified.
