A 6.5-inch diagonal does not specify resolution. VGA 640 × 480 is common in legacy equipment, while other formats exist. Availability and compatibility must be checked from the complete model number.
Resolution affects the system
- Pixel density and physical text/icon size.
- Aspect ratio and required UI redesign.
- Frame-buffer size, pixel clock and interface bandwidth.
- Touch coordinate mapping and controller scaling.
- Availability of mechanically compatible panel models.
Replacement checklist
- Compare original and proposed full model suffixes.
- Match native resolution, refresh and timing.
- Verify RGB/TTL, LVDS or other interface and pinout.
- Compare active area, outline, thickness, mounting and connector location.
- Check panel voltage, backlight driver and power sequence.
- Validate the real UI, touch, temperature and viewing angle.
Higher resolution is not automatically better if the controller cannot drive it or operators cannot read the scaled UI. For legacy replacement, preserving proven timing and mechanics may be the lower-risk decision.
